In it, she exorcises some of her own demons through a painting exercise of the same name (example to the right). The cartoon drawings were well drawn but what made the story interesting to me is how the author included. By Lynda Barry is a heart-warming, bittersweet graphic novel that explores the stages of childhood, young -adult and adulthood. -Blaise Larmee released this pdf compilation into the world early this month via his alt comics tumblr, which, if you aren't following it, is one of the most interesting comics tumblrs. A big thanks to Aeron Alfrey (who I know only via the Comics Journal messageboard) for adding my (Almost) One Hundred Demons project/minicomic to his great MONSTER BRAINS blog. Accordingly, every day one hundred demons perish, and for the same reason, we write the angels' names on the amulets of young children. This was my first read for the Graphic Novels challenge and it's turned out to be one of my favorite books this year already.
